Are your kids at risk for sports injuries?

In Blog by Maryellen

It’s common to watch a professional sports game and see unfortunate injuries take place.  They practice hard and they play hard – it’s almost expected as part of the risk professional athletes take on.

But what about our kids?

  • Are they playing just one sport, year round, on different teams?
  • In their sport, do they use a part of their body repetitively, like a pitching arm?
  • Do they skip ‘rest and recovery’ days because of their sports enthusiasm?

If you answered yes to any of those questions, then your child might be at risk for a future sports injury.  Overuse injuries are plaguing children who are also in key growth stages. Pair that with enthusiastic kids and encouraging parents, and you’ve got a potential formula for unnecessary pain and medical expenses.

Of course, as a parent, you must help monitor your child’s level of participation and recovery time. In addition, several therapies here at Infinity Healing can help. Cryotherapy can reduce inflammation, which accelerates healing.  Think of this therapy as the “ice bath” of the good ole days but vastly improved with today’s science. The PBM bed can quicken muscle recovery by stimulating tissue repair and reducing pain.
